Unafraid Life Lessons – May 2019

May is over. The sun is shining and summer is just around the corner. How have you been feeling? I hope you’re taking care of yourself. Let’s have our monthly chat shall we?

1. When people show you who they are, believe them.

It can be easy to convince yourself that someone is who you want them to be, but that’s not always true. I’ve done it more times than I can count, but I’ve had to learn that sometimes its really not me that has some things to figure out… its them. And that’s okay. You are not responsible for someone else’s growth. If someone shows you that they can’t be there for you the way you want them to be or if someone tells you that they can’t be who you need them to be its best to take their word for it. Don’t assume, don’t make excuses for them and don’t just hand out free passes. I’m not saying don’t give people the benefit of the doubt, I’m saying we need to be honest with ourselves more often. Most people will eventually show you their true selves and when they do, believe them.

2. Embrace the good times while they’re here.

If there are two things that always get me in my feelings its graduations and weddings. As of a few weeks ago graduation and wedding season are in full effect. I love this time of year. My social media feeds are full of shiny new degrees, cute couples, and all-around glow ups. Whenever there’s a chance to celebrate I believe we should do it wholeheartedly. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed and you never know what the next day will bring. So when you’re given the chance to dance like no one is watching, laugh until your stomach hurts or just fully embrace joy, make sure you do it all out with no regrets.

3. There’s enough room for all of us at the top.

I’m not going to lie, FOMO can be real this time of year. To be honest, there are times when I can’t help but think to myself “Should I be doing more with my life?”, “Am I the only one out here struggling?” or “Should I be stuntin’ on Instagram with bae like everybody else?”. The answer to all of those questions for me right now is no. Not everything is a competition. We’re all on our own path to where we need to be. Take your time. Don’t rush the process. There really is enough room for us all at the top.

Love and light,

Felecia Shanice ❤
