Hello loves! Summer is over and fall is coming quickly. How did August treat you? I hope you’ve been soaking up some sunshine! Lean in and let’s have a quick talk about last month’s lessons. September is waiting.
1. Rest needs to be a priority.
I have a habit of doing the most. Most of the time its because its because I genuinely enjoy everything on my plate and I don’t want to let anything go. If I’m honest with myself, I know there are other times when I find myself doing extra because I feel it will somehow give me validation or prove my worth. I know I’m not the only one. Whether we’re working or taking care of others we can’t do it well if we’re burning out. You have to put on your own oxygen mask first. Next month let’s recommit to rest.
2. Don’t forget to breathe.
Starting school again makes me nervous. It’s only the beginning of the semester and I’m already feeling a little overwhelmed. I’m already wondering who told me to go back and get a second master’s degree. Wherever you are on your own journey, remind yourself why you started. Then take a deep breathe and keep going.
3. Take joy in the little things
August was good to me. Graduating from yoga teacher training and becoming certified was a moment that I will cherish for a long time. But life isn’t only made up of pretty ceremonies. It’s full of amazing moments that we overlook. Take time to enjoy the small things: phone calls with the ones you love, sunsets & sunrises, waking up in the morning… These things aren’t guaranteed. Take nothing for granted.
