Unafraid Life Lessons – September 2016

Did your September feel like it flew by? Mine sure did. We’ll keep this month’s recap short and sweet because time is passing us by as we speak:

1. If you really want it, you’ll fight for it.

We make time for the things that are important to us. There’s a difference between being a dreamer and a doer. It’s so easy for us to sit back with our heads in the clouds and think of all of the things that we want to do with our lives, but we’ll never get there if our feet don’t start moving. That dream you’ve been holding onto, the one that you’ve been sitting on and not telling anyone about? Let’s get going. We have work to do!

2. Patience is a virtue.

Like I’ve said in a previous post, September was a lot of waiting for me. Patience is something that I struggle with often. I’d like to say I’ve gotten better at it, but the truth is I still have a long way to go and a lot more practicing to do. I’m still waiting for some things to fall into place with my work and personal life, but the most important thing I’ve learned is that I have to be patient with myself just as much as I am with others. I’m not perfect and I’ll never be, but I’m also learning to give myself time to become the person I want to be. You and me? We’re still learning. We’ll get there eventually. We just need a little patience.

3. Know your worth.

This is the first September for me in eighteen years that I didn’t begin with Back-to-School shopping, freshly sharpened pencils, and blank notebooks. For so long I’ve based my performance on grades and academic assessment. Obviously that’s not how it works in the working world. I’m figuring out how I fit into this post-grad life. I’m learning that what I have to offer my career and my clients is immeasurable and one-of-a-kind. The same goes for you. The way that you love, your passions, and your talents… You are more valuable than you could ever imagine. There is only one you the world will ever see. Go out and show them that you’re irreplaceable.

Love and light,

Felecia Shanice ❤
